What IS

laser hair reduction?

Laser hair reduction is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses concentrated beams of light, or lasers, to target and destroy hair follicles beneath the skin's surface.

Laser hair removal is commonly sought after for its effectiveness, precision, and convenience compared to traditional methods like shaving, waxing, or depilatory creams. It can be performed on various body areas and is suitable for individuals with different skin tones and hair types.

Let's be real.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Laser hair reduction is achieved through a process called photothermolysis. Using Sciton’s ForeverBare technology, the precise delivery of laser energy to the hair follicles, where the melanin absorbs the light, generates heat that damages the follicles' ability to grow hair while sparing the surrounding skin.

This selective and controlled process disrupts hair growth cycles and gradually reduces or eliminates hair in the treated area. It's important to note that laser hair reduction is not a one-time procedure, and results may vary depending on individual factors such as hair color, skin type, and hormonal influences.

THE FACTS

Laser hair reduction treatments are scheduled every 4-6 weeks until the desired result of significant hair reduction is achieved.

Appointments vary in duration, ranging from 15 minutes to 60 minutes, depending on the specific area or areas being treated.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR APPOINTMENT:

At your laser hair reduction appointment, it's natural to have some apprehension, but rest assured, the process is designed to provide you with a comfortable and effective experience. The session begins with a friendly consultation, where you can openly discuss your goals and any concerns you may have. Your Faces in Bloom laser specialist will guide you through each step, and you'll wear protective eyewear for your safety. During the procedure, you might feel a gentle warmth or snapping sensation as the laser targets the hair follicles. It's important to remember that this discomfort is usually mild and brief. It is possible to experience slight redness, bumps, irritation, and swelling for up to 72 hours following the procedure; this is normal. Hair may take up to 4 weeks, or in some cases, as little as a few days, to fall out following treatment. Do not be alarmed if hairs appear to be “growing” during this time.

HOW MUCH DOWNTIME SHOULD YOU PLAN FOR?

The downtime associated with laser hair reduction is typically minimal and manageable. After a session, you may experience temporary redness and mild swelling in the treated area, which can last for a few hours to a day, depending on your skin's sensitivity and the size of the treated area. While these side effects are generally mild, it's advisable to avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and activities that may irritate the skin for a short period after the procedure. Applying sunscreen and following Faces in Bloom’s post-treatment skincare instructions can help protect your skin during this time. In most cases, individuals can resume their regular activities immediately after the session, making laser hair reduction a convenient option for those with busy schedules.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR TREATMENT:

Preparing for a laser hair reduction appointment involves a few essential steps to ensure the procedure is effective and comfortable. First and foremost, it's crucial to avoid sun exposure and tanning beds leading up to your appointment, as excessive sun exposure can increase the risk of complications. Additionally, refrain from plucking, waxing, or using depilatory creams on the treatment area at least three weeks before your session, as these methods remove the hair follicles that the laser targets. Shave the area one day or two prior to your appointment to leave the hair shafts intact while ensuring a clean surface for the laser to work on. This is imperative and if not done, your appointment will be rescheduled. Avoid chemical peels, other laser procedures, alpha-hydroxy and beta-hydroxy acids (salicylic, glycolic, and lactic acid), hydroquinone, retinol/retinoids, Tazorac, and Differin gel 7 days before treatment.
Lastly, if you have a history of herpes simplex in the treatment area, your provider may recommend antiviral medication to prevent an outbreak. By following these guidelines, you'll help maximize the effectiveness of the laser hair reduction procedure and minimize any potential discomfort.

WHEN WILL YOU SEE RESULTS?

The timeline for when someone can expect to start seeing results from laser hair reduction varies from person to person. Most individuals notice a reduction in hair growth after the first session with changes becoming even more apparent after the second or third treatment as the hair follicles gradually weaken and produce finer and lighter hair. By the midway point of your treatment plan (up to 8 sessions spaced several weeks apart), you should see a noticeable reduction in hair density in the treated area. However, it's essential to remember that individual factors like hair color, skin type, hormonal influences, and the area being treated can influence the rate of progress. Patience is key, as the final outcome may take multiple treatment sessions to become fully apparent, but the long-term benefits of smoother, hair-reduced skin are well worth the wait!

The office is an absolute vibe and I can’t imagine anyone ever regretting allowing them to help you achieve your goals.

I have been coming to Faces in Bloom for approximately a year and a half and have received services from Miranda, Sarah, and Forrest. I even drive 2 hours from Eugene, OR because of how amazing they are. I’ve never had a less than amazing experience at Faces in Bloom and all of the staff are absolutely wonderful. Comparing the pictures from my first visit to the pictures from my most recent visit, you wouldn’t even believe it’s the same person. I look amazing! Their monthly specials and VIP membership have helped me rejuvenate my self-confidence and allowed me to feel beautiful and look younger than ever at nearly 40 years old. If you’ve been on the fence about receiving services at Faces in Bloom, this is your sign to go ahead and make an appointment. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made in terms of self-care.

If I could give 10 stars I would. From the moment you walk in, till the moment you leave; it’s the best customer/patient care ever, hands downs.

Forrest is my favorite, he always makes me feel so calm, and relaxed and is just the nicest human. He is so good, I don’t ever feel my botox shots. The man has skills! Don’t get me wrong all the staff are amazing. I started with Forrest and have stuck ever since.

I cannot speak highly enough about the outstanding team at Faces In Bloom! From the moment I stepped foot in their establishment, I felt welcomed by their warm and talented staff.

What's more, their sense of humor added an element of fun to my appointments. Both Sarah and Miranda are undoubtedly masters of their craft - they performed my Botox and filler treatments with the utmost skill and precision. I also treated myself to a facial with Anna, which was an absolute treat. If you're hesitant about trying out any treatments, don't hesitate to give Faces in Bloom a chance. The staff operates with transparency and authenticity, ensuring that you walk out of their establishment feeling like a better version of yourself. I wholeheartedly recommend Faces in Bloom, you won't be disappointed!
