Sarah and I, co-owners of Faces in Bloom, found love in the most picturesque way. Sarah was working at a local hospital as a Registered Nurse (RN) while I was a nursing student, doing clinical rotations on the same unit. On a cold, winter night, I was assigned to work with Sarah, and the rest is history… it actually turns out that we were neighbors! And although I was seven years younger and still lived at home, Sarah didn’t mind. (We still laugh about that)
At first, the two of us would meet at the park with our dogs, shooting hoops and talking about life while the pups wrestled in the grass. As time progressed, Sarah started fishing with me and she became quite intrigued with learning this new sport (as well as becoming quite intrigued with me), but I wasn’t there yet. I didn’t realize that Sarah was fishing for a different type of keeper. I was just as obsessed with fishing as Sarah was with me, and I didn’t see what was right infront of me all along.
Several months went by; the fishing was phenomenal, but Sarah started to become discouraged with being in the “friend zone.” As the fishing slowed, I didn’t make an effort to see her as much and she started spending more time with other people. It was now my turn to seek out Sarah. It took me several months to finally convince her to date me, but once she agreed, it was all over…
Now, 4 years later, we have the life that we’ve always imagined. We live in the safe neighborhood we both grew up in, have a beautiful daughter, a purposeful business, and two entertaining pups. We spend our free time chasing fish and showing our daughter what the Pacific Northwest’s beautiful outdoors has to offer.
The greatest thing about marrying your best friend is that there is never a dull moment. We have taught each other so many priceless lessons, growing together! Sarah makes me a better human; a better partner, a better parent, and a better provider.…
